BCHA Offers Walk-In Flu Immunizations In October

By: Barbour Community Health AssociationOctober 16, 2026

BELINGTON, W.Va. (October 16, 2026) – Barbour Community Health Association (BCHA) is offering the annual flu immunization on a walk-in basis to all current BCHA patients.

The immunizations are available without an appointment during the month of October at Barbour Quick Care at Myers Clinic, 116 McClellan Road, Philippi, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

They’re also available on a walk-in basis at Belington Medical Clinic, 70 North Sturmer Street, Belington, on Tuesdays and Thursdays in October from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

In addition, students, faculty, and staff can receive the flu immunizations in October at the Brandon Wellness Center located in Philip Barbour High School, 99 Horseshoe Dr., Philippi, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

BCHA reminds all community members that the best defense against the flu for you and your family is the flu vaccine. Getting vaccinated by Halloween provides protection against the misery of flu symptoms and makes it possible to enjoy a safe, healthy winter once the flu season begins to peak in December.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends annual flu vaccines for everyone aged six months or older. Exceptions include people who have had severe allergic reactions to flu vaccines in the past or are allergic to any of the vaccine’s ingredients.

“Getting the flu vaccine should be an annual priority for everyone,” says Margie Burner, RN and Lead Nurse Manager. “It’s especially important for children, adults aged 65 and older, those with a chronic illness, and those with weakened immune systems. It lowers their risk of getting the flu, which can be dangerous, or even life-threatening for some individuals.”

Burner says BCHA is offering flu vaccines without appointments in October to make it easy and convenient for those in Barbour County to get immunized against the flu.

“The more people in our community who can get the flu vaccine, the better and healthier it will be for everyone.”

Most insurance plans, including Medicaid, cover the flu vaccine. Patients should bring their insurance card and ID with them when they come in to be vaccinated.

For those self-paying, flu vaccines for those 64 years old and younger are $49.85. The Fluzone High-Dose vaccines for patients 65 years and older are $99.85
